We established the brand identity for a newly formed statewide advocacy organization and supported its thrust into the public eye.

Illinois Black Advocacy Initiative (IBAI)

Goals & Deliverables

Marketing Strategy

Establish social media channels and manage preliminary outreach.

Policy Writing & Public Relations

Provide research and copy editing support for their policy anthology.

Provide public relations support to their founder and Executive Director.

Brand Development

Spoons worked with IBAI to develop a brand identity that highlighted the combined values and goals of the organization, while balancing its visual aesthetic. We used script to modernize and radicalize the logo, and added streamlined shapes and tonal hues to create a versatile brand package.

Narrative and Language Development & Communication Strategy

Spoons worked with IBAI to develop its core narrative elements and disseminate its work to stakeholders. We created the organization’s social media profiles, built its newsletter, and served as strategic advisors to the executive director as she navigated press interviews. Spoons also curated, published and amplified IBAI’s campaign anthology, which highlighted the work of five organizational partners.

Website Design

IBAI needed an intermediary update to their website to align with their new visual brand image. While they were still fleshing out the final aspects of their brand strategy and brand voice, this visual-only “reskin” enabled them to align visually with their audience more immediately.
